We also have made revisions to comply with MOOSE criteria for meta-analysis of observational studies. In the Supplementary Materials section, we added the MOOSE checklist as well as a spreadsheet (Forest_Notes.xls) containing the input data used in the meta-analysis and notes describing details of the individual studies (diagnostic criteria, inclusion of controls, location of the data in the original manuscripts, etc.). We revised the Methods and Results sections to refer to the MOOSE checklist in the Supplementary Materials and to include additional data related to the MOOSE checklist. Finally, while running the MOOSE checklist, we noted that we interpreted the control data in one study (Lasser) slightly differently from the way we interpreted similar data in the other studies. This has no effect on the results of the meta-analysis (same overall Relative Risk, Confidence Interval, and p-value) but it points out the utility of the MOOSE checklist.
